Letter from the Lodge Chief  (Taken from the 2012 plan book)

My Fellow Arrowmen,

There is a lot in store for this next year and we have the opportunity to show there is hope…to show there is promise of a better tomorrow…and to help develop the leaders to make that happen.

Our lodge has a lot to be proud of. We were a Quality Lodge again last year. We expanded our outreach to Cub Scouts. We contributed to significant camp improvements like the new Whipple Circle. We sent members to serve at high adventure bases. We hosted a Conclave. We sent a contingent to NOAC and our ceremonies team placed second in the nation. We were the best lodge in the best section in the best region in the nation. And we did all that with participation from just 25% of our members.

We are a great lodge and an example for many others. But we need to strive not just for what we ARE, but for what we CAN BE.

·         What if 50% of our members participated?

·         What if we sent 5 Arrowmen to each high adventure base?

·         What if we completed the new STSR hiking trail in one year instead two?

·         What if our Trails Team reached out to improve trails throughout Northwest Florida?

·         What if we made VISIBLE improvements to STSR that inspired other people to contribute to further improvements?

·         What if we led the charge to make our bathrooms something to write home about (and say something nice about them)?

·         What if we had so many people involved in Native American Events that we could put on our own POW WOW?

·         What if we had a Shows Team so good other groups hired us to do shows for them?

·         What if we sent 200 people to Conclave?

The possibilities are endless but they all begin with one thing…you. Let this be a year of involvement and outreach. Explore this plan book. Find the thing that interests you most. Volunteer to help. And invite another Arrowman to come with you.

Together, we can make this the lodge it can be.

Yours in Brotherhood,
Bryce Segler
